Youth Hostel
Our youth hostel is nestled between Lake Superior and the Sawtooth Mountains, and transitions beautifully into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.The facility is the Birch Grove Community Center that houses Birch Grove Community School at 9 Goodneighbor Hill Road, Tofte, MN 55615.
Your non-profit 501c3 youth group can enjoy the following adventures on the shore:
- Skiing/snowboarding at the largest ski resort in the Midwest - Lutsen Mountains – just nine miles away!
- Golfing at Superior National Golf Course
- Hiking on the Superior Hiking Trail
- Canoeing and Kayaking
- Snowshoeing
- Mountain Biking
- Cross Country Running/Skiing
- Or make the youth hostel your base camp for trips to the Boundary Waters

Your stay at the Birch Grove Youth Hostel allows for groups of 50 or less. Enjoy your down time at a large facility that has:
- A full commercial kitchen – some meals are included in your stay
- Large walk in fridge to keep coolers
- Large spaces for your group to gather together for meals and meetings
- Large sleeping rooms with individual cots
- Ice skating rink with warming hut (lights on till 10:00 p.m.)
- Tennis court
- Covered outside pavilion
- Outside grill
- Basketball hoops inside and outside
- Large movie screen with projector
- Nature trails behind the building
- A large parking lot with a convenient entry for large buses – just pull up and unload all of your equipment
- Free Wifi
- A youth hostel manager on site
All youth groups must be a non-profit 501c3.
