Be Involved
One of the questions we’re asked most frequently by parents and community members is how they can get involved. This is important, because parent and community involvement—besides being a personally rewarding experience—solidifies our connections as a community and enhances student success.
At home, there are many things parents/guardians can do to contribute to the success of their children. We encourage you to:
- Make sure your child has a wholesome breakfast.
- Pack a nutritious lunch.
- Assure your child’s prompt and regular attendance.
- Call the school if your child will be absent or tardy.
- Communicate with the educators and students about homework.
- Set a schedule at home to allow your child to complete homework.
- Read aloud to your child for at least 20 minutes a day, and/or provide an opportunity for your child to read on his/her own.
- Attend conferences with your child’s teacher.
